As the age old story goes; girl is at bar with friends, guy is at bar with friends. Girl sees guy, guy walks over. Guy mumbles something about dinner, girl names fancy restaurant, guy promises. Facebook, texts, love, dates, laughs – lots of laughs… and then comes marriage. Sigh, a true modern day love story.

Erica and Michael shared an amazing day with a small intimate group of family and close friends January 7th. We were pretty concerned about the weather but a balmy -1 held up for us for the whole day and we couldn’t have been more blessed. Although Erica is still waiting on that fancy dinner at the Harvest Room, these two are true partners in life.

Erica & Michael opted for a first look. I love shooting the first moment the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony. This time is so much more intimate and private. Brides cherish this time with their grooms and it allows for a more streamlined day. Particularly for a day planned with little space between the ceremony and reception. The first look and bride getting ready shots were at the Metterra Hotel on Whyte. They cleared out the lobby for us to have Michael see Erica for the first time. Thanks again Lisa and Brian for being our awesome bouncers.

The awesome people at the Sugar Bowl allowed us to shoot in their restaurant during their busy brunch time. Erica & Michael had their first date there so we wanted to incorporate that into the day.

The ceremony was held at Rutherford House on the University campus. We were allowed an hour prior to the ceremony for family formals and some fun only school smokers lounge type shots. What a cool space!

The reception was held at Leva, food was catered by them and was amazing.

Special thanks to Lisa for toting us around all day and being the best coat carrier ever. Erica and Michael’s parents were especially helpful and attentive.
