happy fruitiversary - my first wedding
way way way back a million four years ago – I shot my first wedding. As a gift for some new friends, Terry & Donna. I wasn’t a wedding photographer, I wasn’t prepared, I was super insanely nervous and on the cusp of barfing every minute. What I did do to prepare was look at blogs of wedding photographers to search for inspiration. What I ended up with was the dutch tilt. Oh dear lawd, the man or woman that invented titling the horizon in every photo to create drama… should be… well, hung sideways. I digress, I can’t really blame the Dutch now can I? What I did learn from that wedding is that my style can’t be created by looking at other people’s work and I needed to listen to my innards to find out what that style was. It’s an on-going, ever changing gut check but the journey from then til now has been pretty awesome. Even though I can’t believe I’m actually going to share these with the world, I am proud of the way Donna still talks about the day she connected her life to her soul’s mate and how these images bring back all the awesome memories of the day. Even if her neck is sore when she goes through the album.
Happy anniversary Donna and Terry. I love you both so much. xox michel
You have no idea how much photoshop I did to make that canoe pic on the right level. no idea.
THAT WAS A GREAT CARREER START, AND YOU’VE HAD EXCELLENT ACCELERATION SINCE. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL…I STARTED LAUNCHING GAS BALLOONS THAT DAY AND I HAVEN’T STOPPED .(NOT THE BALLOON PART) :-O
*tear* *tear* *tear*
I am eternally grateful for the moments you froze in time from our day.
The day that we were downplaying outwardly and trying to minimize but was secretly the most important day for Terry and I.
EVERY DAY!! I look at the photos I have surrounding me from that day and they warm my heart with smiles and love. (is it weird I have a couple in the bathroom?) Thank you is not nearly enough to convey our appreciation to you for jumping in and offering to shoot our day. I really had no idea you were so tortured with nerves tho! Professional right from the start, like it was meant to be.
Thank you Michel and thank you Matt!!
