How to be an active participant in your Branding session - Edmonton branding photographer

8 tips to best prepare for a photography session with Ampersand Grey

Wardrobe Selection: Choose clothing that reflects your personal style and makes you happy. If you feel good, you look even better. You want your outfits to align with the professional image you want to portray but there are no rules here. Okay there is one rule, no big logos, not even your own. Bring a few outfit options to the session. This gives you variety and allows me to help you choose what works best with the background. Bring all the options and we can plan accordingly.

Grooming: Get a haircut a week before your session, not the day before–let that chop settle a little. Clean up those nails & trim up facial hair if applicable.

Hydration and Rest: Drink plenty of water and get a good night's sleep before the session. Give yourself lots of time before your session so you don't arrive stressed or frazzled. This will help you look refreshed and energetic in your headshots.

Natural Expression Practice: Practice your natural smile and expressions in front of a mirror. YES! I can’t stress this enough!!! Practice this a few days before your session. Then again with a few of your outfits on. Don’t hold your smile back, I promise you will like your photos so much better with an authentic smile. When you hold back, it shows.

Communication: I take the utmost care in placing people in the best light to help with skin and ensure people look their best, but if there is something specific you’d like me to be conscious about, please let me know!

Accessories and Props: Consider incorporating accessories or props that represent your personality or profession, adding a personal touch to your headshots. If we are using my studio, you can dress up the space to help your brand shine

Arrive Early: If your session is in my studio, give yourself plenty of time to find parking. We all know how busy parking downtown can be. Do a google map search before your session to plan a parkade near by or familiarize yourself with street parking.

Relax and Enjoy: Let's have some fun after all! Fun people shine sunbeams out of their faces. I promise you. Don’t take this too seriously.
